Does my child/ward need to report to Northbrooks Secondary School when he/she receives the Secondary One posting results on 19 Dec 2025?
Students do not need to report to their posted secondary schools upon receiving their Secondary One posting results. Students should refer to the school website for more information such as Secondary One booklist, purchase of books and uniforms within the school, and other details that Secondary One students should take note of.Parents/Guardians of the incoming Secondary One students who are on Parents Gateway (PG), will also receive information from the schools that their children are posted to, on 19 Dec 2025.

What are the reporting time on the first day of school and the activities for the first day of school (2 Jan 2026)? What does my child/ward need to bring?
The Secondary One students will undergo the Orientation Programme on 2 Jan, 8 Jan and 9 Jan 2026. Normal lessons according to their respective timetables will be held on 5 to 7 Jan 2026. They will be expected to bring relevant books and materials required for their lessons.On 2 Jan 2026, students will be expected to report to school by 7.20 am in their half-uniform (school PE T-shirts with school shorts). They should bring along writing materials, a water bottle, personal medication (where necessary) and sufficient money for recess.

On 2 Jan 2026, Student Councillors will be stationed at the school foyer to guide the Secondary One students to their Form Classes from 7 am onwards. Parents/Guardians will be informed of the form class allocation of their child/ward via PG on 30 Dec 2025. -

What are the school hours like?
Reporting time for school is 7.20 am daily except on Thursdays. Students report to their designated classrooms at 8.20 am on Thursdays. However, for the first week of school, do refer to the Orientation Programme for school hours and reporting attire. -
What is the school attire at Northbrooks Secondary School?
On Mondays, students report to school in full school uniform for flag-raising and morning assembly. On other days, students can report in their PE T-shirts and school pants/skirts. Students are to wear all-black canvas shoes with laces and all-black socks. On 2 Jan 2026, Secondary One students can report in their school PE T-shirts and school pants/skirts. -
What happens if I am unable to purchase the school uniform before 2 Jan 2026?
If your child/ward is unable to get a set of uniform or school PE attire before school starts on 2 Jan 2026, your child can report in his/her primary school PE attire. He/she should purchase the Northbrooks uniform and PE attire as early as possible. -
How many sets of school uniform/PE attire should we purchase?
As a recommendation, each student should have 1 set of full uniform, 3 sets of PE attire (T shirt and PE shorts) and 3 school pants/ skirts. -
What is the school’s Handphone Usage Policy?
Students are allowed to bring their mobile phones to school. However, students are to ensure that their mobile phones remain switched off, kept in their school bags and are not visible during curriculum time (including recess, during CCA and external events).It is the students’ responsibility to keep their handphones safe.

How are Posting Groups different from the N(T), N(A) and Express streams?
Posting Groups are only used for the purposes of admitting students into secondary schools and to guide the initial subject levels that students offer at the start of Secondary One.Once in school, students will be organised in mixed form classes and will spend about a third of their curriculum time taking six Common Curriculum subjects together i.e, Art, Character and Citizenship Education (CCE), Design and Technology (D&T), Food and Consumer Education (FCE), Music and Physical Education (PE).

What are the compulsory subjects at the lower secondary level?
All students are required to offer the following subjects in lower secondary:• English Language (EL)
• Mother Tongue Languages1 (MTL)
• Humanities2 (HUM)
• Mathematics (MA)
• Science (SCI)
• Common Curriculum Subjects (Art, CCE, D&T, FCE, Music, PE)
1Eligible students may offer HMTL instead of MTL.2G1 Humanities comprises Social Studies and Humanities Exposure Module (HEMs) in Geography, History and Literature in English. G2/G3 Humanities comprises three separate subjects in Geography, History and Literature in English.

What are the subjects being offered at More Demanding Levels?
At the start of Secondary One, students will offer EL, MTL, MA and SCI at the subject level determined by their PSLE scores. Students who offer most subjects at G1 or G2 are eligible to offer EL, MTL, MA and SCI at a more demanding level from the start of Secondary One if they have performed well in these subjects at the PSLE. Parents will be informed of their children’s eligibility via Parents Gateway.Humanities subjects can only be offered at a more demanding level from Secondary Two.

What do I need to do if my child is eligible to offer Higher Mother Tongue (HMT)?
The school will send a letter of offer for Higher Mother Tongue via PG. To accept the offer, parents/guardians need to accept the offer via PG (Click ‘YES’). Parents do not need to submit the form physically at the school/language centre. -
My child is eligible to offer Higher Mother Tongue (HMT) but he/she has not received the letter of offer. What should we do?
If your child/ward meets the criteria for HMT but did not receive the letter of offer, please email to HOD (Mother Tongue Languages) Ms Loh Mew Chew (Loh_Mew_Chew@schools.gov.sg).Please submit the acceptance of Higher Mother Tongue offer through PG by 26 Dec 2025 12 pm.

Where would the Higher Mother Tongue lessons be conducted?
Please note that Higher Chinese Language and Higher Malay Language lessons are held in school during curriculum time. Higher Tamil Language lessons are conducted at designated language centres (once a week) after curriculum hours (approximately 3 hours). More information will be given to your child/ward within the first two weeks of school.For lessons that are conducted at external venues (HML, HTL, AEP, MEP, 3rd Language), ample time will be given to students to ensure they are able to have their lunch and travel to the venues. Subject teachers will work with students to ensure they are supported for lessons that they miss.

What do I need to do if my child is exempted from Mother Tongue Languages?
If your child has been exempted from Mother Tongue Languages in primary school or did not sit for Mother Tongue during PSLE, please email our HOD (Mother Tongue Languages) Ms Loh Mew Chew at Loh_Mew_Chew@schools.gov.sg by 26 Dec 2025, 12 pm with relevant supporting details (e.g. exemption letter from CPDD).For more information on Mother Tongue Language Exemption, please click here.

What do I need to do if my child is offered a Third Language?
A Letter of Offer will be sent to you via PG. Parents/guardians must then register online at MOELC (https://www.moelc.moe.edu.sg/) to accept the offer. There is no need to report to a language centre.

Non-medical appeal for transfer to Northbrooks Secondary School
The period for non-medical appeals will be opened from 19 Dec 9 am to 24 Dec 12 pm.Please complete the online form found under Information for Sec One students 2026
School will need time to process the appeals, and the outcome may be available only from mid-January. Students should still report to Northbrooks Secondary School on 2 Jan 2026 when the outcome of the appeal is not determined. While school has the discretion to consider appeals, such appeals may not be accepted due to limited vacancies.

Medical Appeal Exercise
Students with serious medical conditions (e.g. chronic heart condition) or severe physical impairments may apply for a transfer as part of the Medical Appeal Exercise (MAE). Applicants will need to provide documentation from a certified medical professional in order to apply. Applications must be made in person at Northbrooks Secondary School by 22 Dec 2025, from 8.30 am to 12 pm. No applications will be accepted beyond this timeframe. Outcome of the appeal will be released by 30 Dec 2025. -
Can my child/ward still use his Primary School EZ-Link card?
Your child/ward can continue to use his Primary School EZ-Link card till the new card is issued, however purchasing concession passes will need to purchase the concession passes for secondary school students. -

What device will my child be using for his Personal Learning Device (PLD)?
Every Brooksian will be using the Apple iPad as their personal learning device. Every iPad will come bundled with the pencil and keyboard to maximise the affordances of the iPad as a learning tool.Singapore citizen students can use their Edusave account to pay for the PLD. For students on financial assistance, further subsidies will be provided. Currently, most students will be able to pay through their Edusave without paying any cash. More information will be provided in January 2026.

Is parking allowed at the school premises?
No parking is allowed in school as the carpark is for season parking only.Parent with vehicle is allowed to enter the school for drop-off or pick-up of passenger only.
